Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water radio talk show and Founder of Bio-Logic Aqua Research, recently interviewed Alan Taylor, PhD, of the Tufts University Laboratory for Nutrition and Vision Research. The topic was the growing world blindness rate. Dr. Taylor offered some simple, proactive nutrition suggestions for preventing blindness.

According to Sharon Kleyne, the blindness rate is growing worldwide and in the United States. Leading causes, worldwide, are cataracts (50% of blindness ? increasing as you age), glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy (increasing in the US), trachoma (a viral infection of the eye), onchocerciasis (or "river blindness," common in Africa), and leprosy.
There are 42 million blind people in the world, with 1.5 million in the US. An estimated 70% to 80% of blindness is preventable or treatable. In developing countries, where the blindness rate is much higher, the treatable rate is also much higher.
Blindness is increasing In the United States at a lower rate and with less treatable causes. Cataracts remain the #1 cause of blindness (and are easily repaired) but blindness related to air pollution, dry eye, dehydration, obesity and poor diet (such as diabetic retinopathy) is increasing.����
According to Dr. Taylor, by taking care of your eyes and eating the correct "food for the eyes," you can significantly lessen the chances of age-related eye diseases such as macular degeneration, cataracts and chronic dry eye.����Sharon Kleyne adds that water is one of the most important eye foods.
Dr. Taylor's eye health recommendations are similar to those for overall health: Keep weight down, get plenty of exercise, drink sufficient water and eat five servings of fruits and vegetables a day for anti-oxidants and fiber. He recommends cutting down on most other foods. Antioxidants remove free oxygen, which is harmful to cells. Free oxygen can also damage the heart and make the cornea and lenses less clear. Vitamin C is an excellent anti-oxidant.
Vegetables are best eaten raw but frozen or cooked vegetables are better than nothing. Juice is fine if there is no refined sugar or additives. Sugar is strongly associated with macular degeneration and with diabetes. Many meat proteins are modified in the body to sugars that accumulate interfere with absorption of beneficial proteins.
The role of sodium in eyesight, according to Dr. Taylor, is inconclusive. Too much sodium can be unhealthy but a certain amount is required for tears and perspiration.
Dr. Allen Taylor supports of drinking plenty of water for overall health and to avoid aging and dehydration diseases such as chronic dry eye. He is a supporter of eye misting to supplement natural tear film water content and help keep eyes healthy and well nourished.

Caverton Helicopters of Nigeria has recently taken delivery of three (3) medium twin Agusta Westland helicopters to be used for offshore transport duties in support of the Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria. The helicopters are to be ferried from the Agusta factory in Vergiate, Italy to Nigeria and expected to commence commercial operations in the first quarter of 2012.
The AW139 is a new generation medium twin-engine helicopter offering unmatched performance, capacity and safety. It meets the most stringent civil and government certification standards, and is powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6C-67C engines. The chosen configuration of the Caverton fleet will be the twelve (12) passenger offshore configuration. Caverton Helicopters will be joining a group of over 140 customers from 50 countries that have ordered over AW139 helicopters to perform a wide range of roles also including offshore transport, EMS/SAR, VIP/corporate transport, law enforcement, utility and government missions.
Adeniyi Makanjuola the Executive Vice Chairman of Caverton Helicopters said, ?We are happy to introduce the AW139 to our growing fleet, this step will allow us to expand our presence in the regions? helicopter market as new opportunities continue to present themselves.?
The AW 139 helicopters will be operating in Nigeria's deepwater region which is strategic to stakeholders? plans to raise Nigeria?s crude oil reserves to 40 billion barrels, up from the current reserve of about 25 billion barrels. The deep and ultra-deepwater regions are crucial to the realization of these plans and offshore helicopter support services will play a central role in these aspirations.

The progress bar: we now show a simple progress indicator that helps direct your efforts at a specific target. The goal is automatically set to increments of 5 posts (yes, we are considering allowing this to be customized). An inspiring quotation appears under the bar, as a reward and as motivation for next time. When you reach the goal, you get a nice surprise, and the bar will be reset for next time. The Dashboard
We?ve completely redesigned the look and feel of the app, now placing the actions you want to make with your blog all in one place: The Dashboard. You have one-tap access to create new posts and pages, upload media, view your stats, read blogs and more! There?s also now a beautiful comment count ribbon to show you how many comments you have in your moderation queue.
The Action Bar up top allows you to quickly get to other areas of the app as fast as possible. You can tap the blog name to switch blogs, refresh your content, and call up the dashboard from wherever you are in the app at the time.
The post editor has been enhanced with many great new features. ?A formatting toolbar has been added that displays above the keyboard as you type, allowing you to easily format text and add links and media. The post editor also goes full screen, giving you as much room as possible to create your posts while on the go.
Media attachments have received an awesome boost as well. You can now insert images among the post text wherever you?d like. Tapping on an image will bring up many new options you can set per image, including Title, Caption, Placement and Size.
We paid special attention to tablets for this release, adding special layouts just for Android Tablets. From Galaxy Tab to Xoom, we?ve got you covered.

The post editor has been enhanced with many great new features. �A formatting toolbar has been added that displays above the keyboard as you type, allowing you to easily format text and add links and media. The post editor also goes full screen, giving you as much room as possible to create your posts while on the go.
Media attachments have received an awesome boost as well. You can now insert images among the post text wherever you?d like. Tapping on an image will bring up many new options you can set per image, including Title, Caption, Placement and Size.

Abduction levels are increasing because an abducting parent knows that the likelihood of them being forced to return the illegally taken child is remote at best. In fact, ABP World Group conducted an analysis that carefully reviewed the total number of reported and estimated unreported cases of abduction occurring from the West, including the United States. Our determination estimates that approximately 5% of the total number of children abducted overseas are ever returned. 5% is completely unacceptable by any means. Unfortunately, the vast majority of parents seeking to reunite with their criminally internationally kidnapped children seek the civil remedy available to them under the Hague Convention, which clearly does not work. Nor does seeking criminal sanctions because law enforcement either is often reluctant to enforce the criminal laws that address this type of crime against an innocent child, or even if they do, the country the child is stolen to or illegally detained in may not have any extradition agreement with the country possessing original jurisdiction of the child."
